Technical Director and Head of Coaching

Monash Villarreal FC is very excited and pleased to announce that former Real Madrid Academy Coach Nacho Ferrer has been appointed as the new Technical Director and Head of Coaching, with an agreement for the next 3 years. Under Ferrer's guidance, the club has the expectation that our players, teams and coaches will reach the next football level, as part of an ambitious medium and long term development plan.

Having been involved in Junior football for more than 30 years, Nacho Ferrer worked for the Academy of Real Madrid between 2010 and 2016 and spent the following two years as a Madrid State coach, as part of the elite pathway program of the Spanish Federation. During this time, he had the opportunity to coach (and compete against) some of the main Spanish young prospects that are now established as Pro players or about to get to that stage.

In 2019, he moved to Australia to become the Academy Technical Director of the Brisbane Strikers FC for four years. The high-level football program that he implemented at this club was recognised by Football Queensland as the best Academy football program in the State in 2022.

"I am thrilled to start this project with Monash Villarreal in Melbourne", says Nacho Ferrer. "Our main aim in an initial phase will be to firmly fix and enhance the football identity and the style of play of the club, in line with our role model Villarreal C.F. in Spain. To do this, our coaching staff will be key: as our coaches master our training methodology, the more they will able to influence the teams and the players, and help them to develop, in training sessions and in games".

"Once we have achieved this first goal, then we will start to implement our individual development plans for the players, which will make a huge impact in our individuals and will take our football program to another level of player development in Victoria".

In the coming weeks, Nacho Ferrer will introduce himself to all of our current players and a number of educational parent workshops will be delivered at the end of year and at the start of 2024, in order to explain further details about this exciting new era at the club.
