Dear Monash Villarreal FC Parents and Members,
This is a courtesy update on behalf of myself and my board to advise you of the recent announcement by the Victorian Government and the Victorian State Premier in relation to the return to stage 3 restrictions within the Melbourne Metro region.
Whilst we are disappointed as a club that our season for all our players and members has once again paused for the interim, in particular with the season scheduled to commence this coming weekend, we understand however that the health and wellbeing of our players, members and community remains the highest priority.
These restrictions will come into effect from Wednesday 8th July at 11:59pm.
This will mean that all activity inclusive of training, clinics, group training and matches will cease from the above-mentioned date.
The duration for this will be approximately 6 weeks otherwise known as the lockdown period. We will now await for the guidance of Football Victoria, the Department of Health and Human Services and Sport and Recreation Victoria recommendations.
We will update our players, members and our community with any further communication as it comes to hand within the coming days/weeks.
Please note that Monash Villarreal FC is also working closely with other stakeholders to implement strategies with a view of returning to scheduled training sessions and playing competitive games post the lockdown period in some alternative format if it is required to implement this course of action.
I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of my board to thank you for your patience, resilience and continued support.
Please stay safe and look after yourselves during these extraordinary times we are experiencing as a community.
Monash Villarreal FC
